Poppies at the Tower

Early on Saturday morning, I went up to see the display of over 880,000 poppies in the moat that surrounds the Tower of London, each one representing a life lost in the First World War.

Much has been said about the poppies – officially titled ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ – which I won’t add or expand upon what has already been said, other than to say that regardless of your political beliefs, background or views on armed conflict, the sight of a sea of red is a humbling and sombre experience.
